Farming Ayleid Ruins

Farming an Ayleid ruin is one of the easiest and most relaxing ways to make gold in The Elder Scrolls Online. This method offers the chance to drop one of the rarest furnishing plans in the game, worth up to 20 million gold depending on the platform. If you’re extremely lucky and use the Homemaker passive in your Champion Points tree, you could even drop two plans at once, potentially earning 40 million gold. The method requires minimal skill—just use a generic AoE build and run in circles until you’re bored.

What Loot Can You Get?

The primary goal is to obtain one of two very rare purple furnishing plans, dropped by killing any enemy in the ruin:

- Praxis: Ayleid Bookshelf, Cluttered – Worth approximately 22 million gold.
- Praxis: Ayleid Bookcase, Cluttered – Worth approximately 19 million gold.

Additionally, you have a much higher chance of obtaining blue Ayleid furnishing plans, which are worth less but still bring in a decent amount of gold, averaging around 100k each. These can provide a steady source of passive income while waiting for the rare purple drops.

If you have access to a companion, keep them active while farming. Companions can trigger drops of rare purple companion gear, further increasing your passive income. Some companion gear pieces are worth hundreds of thousands of gold.

Where Is the Best Location for This?

My favorite location for farming these items is the public dungeon in Greenshade. It has a high density of enemies, neatly grouped for AoE farming. The dungeon features an efficient loop and is conveniently close to a wayshrine, making it easy to teleport back and forth between activities.

What Setup Should You Use?

Your setup isn’t particularly important. Use whatever build allows you to comfortably kill enemies without dying. Personally, I use a magicka DPS setup with an Inferno Staff and spam the Pulsar skill. This setup lets me clear the dungeon easily, running and casting one skill to flatten enemies.

The enemies are very weak, so you don’t need top-tier gear or fully upgraded traits. Just show up and use some AoE skills.

Spawning Your Companion to Farm Purple Gear

While farming, ensure your companion is active. Although companions are not particularly helpful in combat, they can significantly boost your profits. Enemies killed while your companion is active have a chance to drop companion gear, which can be worth hundreds of thousands of gold.

If you don’t have a companion, don’t worry too much—the main goal is the 20-million-gold furnishing plans. However, if you do have one, take advantage of the extra profit opportunity.

Champion Points

For Champion Points, the only essential passive is the Homemaker node in your green CP tree. This increases your chance of dropping a second furnishing plan by 10%. The rest of your points can be allocated as you see fit.

Although pulling a purple furnishing plan is rare, and triggering the Homemaker CP is only a 10% chance, it’s possible to get extremely lucky and pull both purple furnishing plans simultaneously. Personally, I’ve managed to get two blue Ayleid furnishing plans in one run, but the purple ones remain elusive.

Additional Settings

Adjusting your settings can make this process more efficient. Enable Consolidate Area Loot and Auto Loot. This allows you to keep moving quickly while picking up items automatically, ensuring efficient clears.

These settings also make it easier to spot rare drops, as items like the purple furnishing plans will appear in purple text on the side of your screen.

Final Advice

- If you have spare Crowns, consider purchasing a merchant. The cat merchant is a fun option. While not essential, having a merchant lets you sell junk items directly, earning around 10–20k gold per hour from sales alone.

- Farming with a friend can make the process more enjoyable. Both players will receive loot from the same enemies. If one of you gets lucky with a rare drop, it’s polite to share the profits.

- Don’t burn yourself out. Farm for a while when you’re bored or have time to kill, but avoid spending hours at a time here. The drops are rare, and the content isn’t particularly exciting. Keep it fun and look forward to the occasional farming session.
